Mimaki Product Range Positively Received at FESPA Digital 2011

Mimaki, a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers and cutting machines, was very pleased with its participation at FESPA Digital 2011, held from the 24th to the 27th of May in Hamburg, Germany. With its extensive range of digital printing and cutting solutions on display, Mimaki confirmed its position as a pioneer and its ability to provide the visitors with highly innovative products.

JV34-260: The Latest Solvent Inkjet Printer from Mimaki

The recently launched JV34-260 was definitely one of the stars during the show. Based on the award winning JV33 series, the new model features a print width of 2.6 m and achieves significantly faster speeds resulting in higher productivity while at the same time appealing to cost-conscious print service providers. Available as solvent and dye sublimation model, the JV34-260 prints a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications with excellent quality at high printing speed up to 30m2/h.

UJF-3042 with Clear Ink and Flexible Ink

Three units of UJF-3042, the world’s first compact (A3 size) UV flatbed printer, also attracted a large number of visitors to the booth. The first machine printed variable data on promotional products, the second one presented exquisite effects of the clear ink, and the third introduced the availability of flexible ink for UJF-3042.
Depending on the design, clear ink can be used as protective coating or spot coating for design accents. With glossy or matte finishing varnish, it adds value to the print results by creating astounding and eye-catching effects. Moreover, clear ink can be layered multiple times to produce a more enticing look and add haptic feel to the prints.
The newly introduced flexible ink for UJF-3042 employs a formula that enables the ink to be stretched up to 200% and does not crack when bent. This makes printing on a curved surface possible and allows innovative applications, such as operation panels or membrane switches, to be designed and created. The flexible ink for UJF-3042 will be available soon with white ink, which is especially useful for printing on transparent and coloured substrates.
High Capacity Textile PrintersFor textile professionals looking for printing solutions for the soft signage and apparel markets, Mimaki exhibited three high capacity direct-to-fabric printers: the 1.8 m wide Tx400-1800D and Tx400-1800B, as well as the super wide JV5-320DS (3.2 m).
Equipped with the new adhesive belt carrier system for stretchable materials, the Tx400-1800B was shown printing on cotton, using reactive dye ink. The Tx400-1800D and JV5-320DS printed on polyester using dye sublimation ink. To show the final results of dye sublimation prints, a calender supplied by Klieverik was also present at the booth.
All three printers attracted great attention from textile professionals of various markets, including the soft signage and textile proofing market, who seek printing solutions for applications such as flags, banners, apparel, sportswear, curtains, and bed sheets.
Printing on special media

At this year’s FESPA, Mimaki presented an eco-friendly printing solution with its innovative range of inkjet printers, the UJV-160 and the CJV30 Series, gaining much support from the visitors. In co-operation with Avery and MACtac, Mimaki sent out the message of being more environmentally responsible without compromising quality.
Mimaki’s UJV-160, which pairs the environmental benefits of UV LED curing technology with reusable ink packs for less waste, was shown printing on non-PVC media from Avery Dennison. Meanwhile, the CJV30-130 integrated inkjet printer/cutter was equipped with eco-solvent inks and green media from MACtac.
Another highlight at the show was Mimaki’s solvent-coated media, which was mounted on the CJV30-60 with silver ink. The newly introduced media has not yet been available in the market, but will be available in transparent film, transparent shrink foil, and metallised foil. The combination of this particular media with silver ink and the CJV30-60 creates an affordable yet powerful solution for the packaging mock-up and sampling industry.
